I have many years of experience working with some of the most invisible members of our community.
I have worked in prisons, charitable organisation and in private practice. My passion is working with sections of our community who find it difficult to access counselling and support services because of stigma, lack of opportunity or they may just feel that counselling/therapy isn’t for them.
I believe that to offer meaningful change we need support not only the person, but the whole family and wider community. This approach breaks down barriers to recovery, recognises the needs of family members, builds strong family ties, and creates more resilient and connected communities.
One of my many passions is supporting people who have experienced complex trauma and feel that because of their own behaviour and the hurt they may have caused others shouldn’t seek the support they most desperately need.
I truly believe that anyone irrespective of the choices they may have made, have the right to receive the support they need and the same opportunities to make positive changes in their lives.
I work as an independent practitioner with children and adults covering a range of needs and concerns. My core approach is person-centred therapy that focuses on the presenting issue of the client. As each individual is unique, therapeutic sessions are adaptable to ensure the client receives the support they require to progress and work towards their objectives.
As part of my work with clients, I integrate elements of additional theoretical principles and modalities to ensure I meet the needs of the client. I also offer clinical supervision to both qualified counsellors and counsellors in training. This role allows me to support the progression and development of supervisee’s working with a range of clients in different settings. I find that my roles within counselling and education support supervision sessions, as I’m able to draw on the elements that best support the supervisee.
I am a Pluralistic and creative counsellor.
I have worked in many different parts of the community, from colleges and schools to private practice, where I mainly work with young people. I have over 10 years of experience caring and supporting others, from numerous roles.
I like to incorporate a creative approach to be able to support individual's within their journey, to allow them to express or communicate in different ways.
I have a keen interest in working with self-harm, young people and using creative ways.
